Over 210 million
people in the US have cell phones. With that in mind
the Police Department is proud to announce the launch
of our new tip411 texting program. It allows anyone
with a cell phone to provide information anonymously
to the Police Department. Here's how it works.
• tip411 is an Internet based tool that enables
the public to text message an anonymous tip to police,
and allows the police to respond back in real time,
creating a two way anonymous "chat".
• It's completely anonymous as all the identifying
information is removed before the Police Department
receives the text
• Powered by CitizenObserver, a web based notification
toolset for law enforcement, programs have been successfully
implemented in hundreds of agencies around the country
Anyone with a cell phone can now send an anonymous
tip to The Sanford Police Department. To send a text
follow these steps:
1. Text to tip411
2. Type 919SPD at the beginning of your text message
3. Type your message including as much detail as possible
to ensure that your tip is thoroughly investigated
4. Send your tip, knowing that you are helping to
reduce crime in your community, while remaining 100%
anonymous
For every crime committed, someone has information
to solve that crime. If you have information about a
crime or have safety concerns regarding your neighborhood,
please take advantage of our newest crime fighting tool
and text your tip to The Sanford Police Department.
With your help we can create a safer community for all.
